Summary/Abstract: Theme of this paper is free software and application of free software licenses in Czech and German legal environment. Main goal is to refer to the specific method of licensing of this kind of software and identify legally important issues emerging from application of licenses originating in common law regulations to the continental legal environment. To achieve this main goal the paper is dealing with some important issues rising with application of free software licenses in both mentioned legal systems.
