Summary/Abstract: In this paper the author distinguishes descriptive and evaluative concept of fashion in science. In this second sense it can be defined as the expansion of interest for a certain domain which is caused primarily by the external, non-cognitive factors and does not contribute to the growth of empirical knowledge correlatively to the invested resources. From the last characteristic it can be concluded that it is only with hindsight that can be appraised what represents a bare fashion.
