Summary/Abstract: The polished stone axes and adzes are the basic tools of the Neolithic farmers, the main means by which they exploited and modified the environment. The present study aims to reconstruct the operating chain in the manufacturing of these tools, based on the morphological observations and the working traces, but also on the information obtained as a result of the experimental archaeology studies. From this double perspective, the first part of the study deals with the operations of blank preparation, polishing of the surfaces and sharpening. The second part of the study describes the operations of wood exploatation and working with the tools experimentally made. The last part of the study is reserved to some conclusions regarding the functionality and efficiency of these tools in daily activities.
