EVALUATION OF STATISTICAL ANALYSIS IN PUBLIC OPINION SURVEYS

Summary/Abstract: Total of 74 statistical analysis of 54 public opinion (P.Q.) surveys carried out since 1985. on samples of respondents of different sizes and domains have been evaluated. The evaluation comprised 16 variables related mostly to quantitative aspects of researh. It was demonstrated how this sample of variables could help in assessment of qualitative (structural) aspects of research. Descriptive meta-statistics revealed that average statistical analysis was performed on 1888 respondents and 148 variables and has produced 702 contingency tables, in most of analysed surveys were used extensive data transformations with purpose of constructing interval-level measures of dispositive concepts. In 34 analyses (45.9%) were used advanced techniques like factor analysis, regression, log-linear modeling, cluster analysis etc.
