Summary/Abstract: The article discusses, lo what extent and whether, Yugoslav society is traditionalistic, and what are the manifestations and consequences of that, especially from the standpoint of its necessary modernization. It is accented that tradition, innovation and diffusion are only three sides of identical social processes, the focus is devoted to the analysis of their essential characteristics and their specilic joint action in Yugoslav society, mostly in period of the so-called "second Yugoslavia".
