Summary/Abstract: The article consists of text and a table, describing statistical differences between the frequency of appearance of the types of syllables in Bulgarian and Polish language. Out of twelve pages of content, the table spreads on eight pages and the text - on four. An emphasis is put on the reasons why Polish language has larger variety of different types of syllables, while Bulgarian has larger frequency of syllables, formed by a dental consonant preceding a vowel. The analysis is inspired by the fact that up-to-now linguistic studies on the matter reach only the level of opposition between vowels and consonants. It is noteworthy that the table lists this appearance not in the vocabulary but the practical speech. That’s why the data is taken not from dictionaries but from two Bulgarian and two Polish fiction texts, one translated and one written by a native author.
