Following the introductory definition of this new technological trend, the attention is turned to its three partial aspects while taking into account the specifics of the Internet of Things. Firstly is opened the question of protection measures and data pseudonymization and the related problems. Next is addressed the significance of the shift towards self-regulation represented by the impact assessment and restrictions, which follow in this regard from related provisions. As third is mentioned the new general mandatory obligation to notify a personal data breach and the broader than European context of this issue is introduced. In conclusion are addressed the risks, which stand against the putting of the newly adopted regulation into effect, and the challenges, which need to be overcome until its coming into force.
