Summary/Abstract: It happens frequently that a small people have a small and ,,borrowed‘‘ legal culture. However, there have been reputable and unique jurists in the Serbian legal culture and heritage. Professor Stevan Vracar figures as one of them. Through his voluminous and creative juristic work, primarily in the field of the legal theory, jurisprudence and legal methodology, as well as through his inspiring lectures and educational activities, Professor Vracar has influenced many a generation of jurists and admirers. According to research and historically relevant insights, there have been defined ten research tendencies marking the map of the legal theory nowadays: analytic legal theory, institutional legal positivism, critical rationalism, legal sociology and the theory of system, legal logic, dialectical argumentation and topic jurisprudence, the theory of juristic discourse, movement Critical legal studies, the Law and Economics school, and the narrative legal theory. It can be said that these ten legal theoretical directions (orientations, streams), together with others that might develop or emerge, and a number of supplementary tendencies, contribute, though in different ways, to a juristic appraisal of the very same matter -- law.
