Summary/Abstract: Nowadays the number of publications dealing with religious life of the Unitarian denomination in previous centuries has grown. Earlier research had been about only the formation, the diff erences and the argument among the dogmatic systems, now the focus is on the broader sense of religious and devotional practice and liturgy. Our study introduces an interesting unique document about the relationship between the Unitarian denomination and pictures, titled “Two diff erent religious children’s conversations with each other”. The dialog about everyday religious problems has been registered only by catalogues of some special collections (Library of Unitarian College in Kolozsvár, Hungarian Széchenyi Library and “Teleki Téka” in Marosvásárhely). Nobody has previously undertaken to analyse and situate the educational and historic literary place of the dialog. In the 18th century these were popular with many copies registered so this study is important to show historical ideas. It reviews the most important theological points of 18th century Unitarianism and it can be a summary of Unitarian dogmatism and devotional practice. Our study overviews the famous representatives and the main literary problems concerning pictures of veneration and representation of saints from the 16th century and attempts a comparative analysis between “Erasmus: Enchiridon militis Christiani” and the arguments and rhetorical resources of the dialog. In this study our goal is to introduce a basic manuscript document illustrating the theology and devotional practice of the Unitarians from the 18th century and it gives a new context to drawings of adoration and veneration diff erent from the rhetorical practice in the theological literature.
