Summary/Abstract: With this paper we would like to draw attention to the neglected fact about the mention of the year on a stećak in the form of a cross in the area of Drežnica near Mostar (Sveća). We are dealing here with a very devastated necropolis in the place of Sveća where there are four tombstones from the late Middle Ages. The mention of the year on the stećak, recorded in a travel book from 1862, is by itself very interesting and we think that it may be of a special importance for dating of this form of medieval tombstones.
