Summary/Abstract: Graphic organizers are visual models enabling teachers and students to efficiently organize, understand and apply information. This paper presents the specific characteristics and advantages of using graphic organizers in science teaching, as well as the results of testing their efficiency in the teaching process. For this purpose different kinds of organizers, their purposefulness and efficiency as well as their applicability at different teaching stages have been described. The basic purpose is to stimulate the development of students’ competences with a special emphasis on the development of analytical abilities, of a deeper understanding and of higher cognitive levels of thought.
