THE HAJJ EMIRATE (ADMINISTRATION) AND SOME RELATED INTELLECTUAL ISSUES

Summary/Abstract: The regulation of Hajj journeys as well as the actual performance of Hajj rituals in the Holy lands has been an important issue throughout history. Given the huge increase in the number of pilgrims today it has become a more crucial issue to concentrate on the issue of Hajj organization. In this article, I will first present the classical views of fuqaha on the leadership of Hajj organization through exploring the views of certain Medieval Muslim jurists. Then, in the end, I will try to make some observations and suggestions concerning the implications of these views for the present situation.
