Summary/Abstract: Sustainable development is one of the most popular and attractive field of research in contemporary science, both in natural and social sciences. It is a development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. In this paper, the sustainable development is examined on five analitical levels – macro level, sociocultural, political, economic-technological and ecologicdemographical level. However, the main accent is not on exhaustive consideration each of mentioned levels than on sociological approach which shows us that the concept of sustainable development, as a global developmet theory, has serious consequences for human society and its development.
