Summary/Abstract: The article deals with the tradition of Christmas youth gatherings within a narrow local tradition that exists at the Vishera River (a tributary of the Vychegda River, the Komi Republic). The structure of the research includes the following sections: the history of studying the ethnocultural specific character of the Komi at the Vishera; a combination of the circle dance and a game; some aspects of the existence of borrowed songs; merrymaking entertainment and disguises; and the transformation of the ritual (merrymaking of youngsters). Different stages of the existence of this ceremonial complex, which are historically determined, are represented: traditional, adolescent from the Soviet period, and the modern one.
