Summary/Abstract: The following article examines the lexico-semanthic explications of the concept of MOTHERLAND in the Bulgarian lexical image of the world. Conceptual and connotative signs can be found in every concept’s structure. These signs express themselves by the analysis of definitions, available in the interpretative dictionaries of the key lexemes, which define them. The following key lexemes are representants for MOTHERLAND in the Bulgarian language: родина, отечество, бащинà, татковина, страна, земя and also the personal name Bulgaria.
