The coats of arms of the auxiliary bishops of the Koszalin-Kolobrzeg (Kołobrzeg) Diocese in the perspective of church heraldry

Summary/Abstract: Auxiliary bishop is an ordinated Roman-catholic religious man, whose duty is to assist the diocese bishop to manage the diocese. He does it usually as a vicar general or vicar episcopal. During sede vacante period (the diocese bishop’s sickness or death) the eldest (considering his nomination) auxiliary bishop takes over in the diocese up to the choice of a diocese administrator. He also is able to still rule as a vicar general or vicar episcopal. Auxiliary bishops are called suffragans. Bishops along with their consecration have a duty of sanctifying and also teaching and ruling, which can be done only in a hierarchical community with its head and members. In the coat of arms and motto of a religious there is contained his identity, his world reception and other most important things. Coats of arms of the hierarchs of the Roman-Catholic Church are church signs of dignity, symbols contained in the coats of arms of the Church dignitaries inform of their posts in the hierarchy of the Church. In this article there has been done a description of the graphic form of bishops’ coats of arms in Koszalin-Kolobrzeg (Kołobrzeg) Diocese, and also an analysis of the symbols contained by them.
