Summary/Abstract: The article is dedicated to the revival of the liturgical practice praising the holy brothers among Orthodox Slavs from the 1840s onward. The focus is on the service to Sts Cyril and Methodius on May 11, composed by Archbishop Antonii (Amfiteatrov) and its editions: Belgrade 1862 and 1870, Tsarigrad 1862, Braila 1870, all Russian editions (1863, 1885, 1886, in the festal menaion, the complementary menaion, in the so-called green and brown menaia, etc.), as well as the revision made by Parthenii (Stamatov), bishop of Leuka (1958, 2007, 2018). On the eve of the celebration of the 150th anniversary of the Bulgarian Exarchate (1870) the edition of Hadzhi Dimitar Panichkov (Braila, 1870), which combines the praise to Sts Cyril and Methodius and the newly-established St. Synod, is of special interest. The article also makes reference to the adaptation of the old manuscript services of February 14 and April 6 that started in 1885 to modern liturgical practice, but the analysis of the texts and the mechanisms underlying this process will be the task of future work.
