Summary/Abstract: The article presents a full summary of the results of archaeometallographic studies of Sarmatian blade weapons made from ferrous metal. Archaeometallographic methods were employed to examine swords and daggers from Sarmatian sites of different periods. From the technological point of view, the most striking is the period of Sauromatian culture, when high technologies were used to manufacture swords and daggers (cementation, heat treatment). Products of the Early Sarmatian period demonstrate some negative technological changes: items were forged from iron and non-homogenous steel, heat treatment was not applied. Thus, the authors infer changes in supply of bladed weapons to the Sarmatians.
