Summary/Abstract: The author deals the landmark general elections In the Mexico’s history, which took place on 1st July 2018. In their results, the country governing for more than seventy years by the Revolutionary-Institutional Party (PRI) suffered the greatest electoral setback, sliding to the third position on the political scene. In his place, a new political grouping emerged. It was able win not only the presidency, but also the majority in both National Congress chambers. One again in the world’s history, the citizens proved they may put aside – peacefully, without recurring to the illegal forms of power change – the so-called one-party system or of the dominant party, as was the Mexican case. Many factors indicate that Morena (officially the National Regeneration Party) would be the PRI-bis. If so, one again will be confirmed the tenet that it is easier to change the rulers that the way of power exercising. Let’s hope not so.
