Summary/Abstract: After World War I and the Treaty of Versailles that followed, Hungary lost a significant part of its territories and was in a difficult economic and political situation. One of the major goals of the Hungarian government, whose main aim in foreign policy was to return to prominence in European diplomatic circles, was to achieve the addition of Hungary to the League of Nations. At the same time the Hungarian government established a representation operating under the League of Nations, which also took part in the negotiations. $e Hungarian request to join the League of Nations arrived to the organisation during the summer of 1921, yet – owing to the difficult political situation in Hungary and its problematic relations with its neighbours – Hungary’s admission to the League of Nations was accepted only on 18 September 1922.
