Summary/Abstract: Within the framework of Hungarian-Latin American relations, this study examines the development of contacts, especially diplomatic ties, between Hungary and the countries in Central America in the second half of the 20th century. The paper is organised in a chronological way, and is divided into five chapters in order to underline dominant tendencies and shifts in the nature of relations. The analysis relies on documents of the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, kept in the Hungarian National Archive. Due to the nature of the sources, the study offers readers a principally Hungarian perspective of the bilateral relations between Hungary and the Central American region.
