Summary/Abstract: As a result of the expedition to the Old Believers in Latvia, in May 2016, ethno-linguistic and sociolinguistic narratives were collected. The analysis showed that the quantity of dialectical features depends on age, education, place of living and place of birth. The old generation without higher education uses a lot of dialectical features, slightly less – middle-aged generation without higher education. As a result of the Standard Russian influence in the second half of the 20th, century people of old and middle generation with higher education speak almost without dialectisms. In modern day Latvia such an influence is less significant, which creates a situation where the Russian speech used by the younger generation undertaking studies in Latvian language possesses more dialectisms.
