Summary/Abstract: Two homilies of Origen on the Song of Songs 1,1–2,14 were preserved in the Latin translation of Jerome dating from 383. “While Origen overpasses everybody else in the interpretation of the other books of the Scriptures, this time he exceeded himself” – wrote the translator in his recommendation to Pope Damasus who requested him this work. The allegorizing interpretation of Origen on the Song of Songs remains one of the most peculiar examples of this kind. This is why we thought to be helpful to present his specific interpretation.
