Competitiveness in the European Union - A Possible Approach for Determining Competitiveness for NUTS 2 Regions

Summary/Abstract: Regional competitiveness has undoubtedly grown in value by the twenty-first century. So did the number and scope of relevant works. The fact that competition exists in territorial aspects is in strong relationship with increasingly intensive globalization and with those changes that are initiated by globalization. EU NUTS 2 level regions provide basis for my evaluation. After a brief review on the theoretical framework of the issue, I attempt to assemble an empirical study in which I use principal component analysis a multivariable statistic method. I seek for a deeper understanding considering difficulties about the measurement of competitiveness.
