THE EPITOME OF THE FREE NATURAL INDIVIDUE

Summary/Abstract: The aim of this paper is to demonstrate the fact that the period at the end of the XIXand the beginning of the XX century represented a turning point for society, culture, art and therefore the literature toward modern Europe. These changes had significant effect on the new generation of Serbian writers, on the society, but also on the individual within the community. In this paper through analyzes of the prose discourse of Ivo Cipiko (1869–1923), with a special reference to the novel Za kruhom (1904) these effects will be discussed.
