Summary/Abstract: The Catholic University of Lublin from the very beginning of its existence was associated with Polish diaspora, which thanks to its material support gave the university the opportunity to survive in critical historical moments. One of such eminent representatives of Polish diaspora in Canada, associated with the university for years was Piotr Michał Czartoryski. He came from a princely family that formed him in the national and Catholic spirit. He obtained a thorough education in philosophy, economics and agricultural sciences in Belgium and Poland. During the Second World War, he fought in both regular and Home Army formations. After leaving Poland, as part of his membership in the Polish Armed Forces in the West, he carried out the task entrusted to him by the highest military authorities in exile. After demobilization, he left with his family to Canada, where he acted as an entrepreneur, a member of the main Polish diaspora organizations and a promoter and animator of Polish cultural and scientific life in Canada. He organized systematic material support for the Catholic University of Lublin and developed scientific contacts of the university in Canada. As a result, he was awarded the title of doctor honoris causa of the Catholic University of Lublin and state decorations.
