Summary/Abstract: The lessons, which have been performed in the presence of the Ottoman sultans on the exegesis of the Quran, called Lessons of Huzur-ı Humaayuun. The good example of these lessons was the tafseer lesson on the 31st verse of Sura al-A‘raf, which presented by al-Hajj Umar Lutfi Efendi in the presence of the sultan Abdul-Hamid, the Second. In this lesson performed in the Islamic month of Ramadan in 1293, eighteen questions were directed to Umar Lutfi Efendi after he completed the presentation. All of these questions were almost related to the subjects of language.
