Summary/Abstract: The right to health care is guaranteed by the Polish Constitution. Equal access to health careservices, financed from public funds, shall be ensured by public authorities to citizens, irrespectiveof their material situation. Furthemore, public authorities shall ensure special health careto children, pregnant women, handicapped people and persons of advanced age. The purpose of this article is to verify whether the legislator ensures effective implementation of the constitutional obligation to provide special health care for pregnant women. Unfortunately, theState does not fulfil the obligation to provide high-quality health care for pregnant women ina satisfactory manner.
