Towards the Theoretical Frame for the Research of Gender Inequalities in Serbia

Summary/Abstract: In this text I am drawing a link between economic un-development and gender inequalities. I am interested in defining a theoretical framework that would allow for a research on specific situation o f women in Serbia. For that reason I take as my starting point theoretical concerns addressed within the frameworks o f Women and Development and Gender and Development. My intention in this text is to propose a gender model for research into inequalities in development that will be able to show not only differences between men and women and their place in development, but also among women. Such a model would also have to take into account specific situation o f women in Serbia, where undevelopment is state induced and state directed, and where different forms o f gendered violence pose severe limitations on women's access to, and participation in, social and economic development.
