Summary/Abstract: In his discussion the author deals with the organizational structure, scope and substance of communist cultural and educational societies active in the Slovene part of the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats, and Slovenes. At the very beginning of the period in question Communists were outlawed, therefore nonpolitical societies proved to be one of the most suitable forms of non-statutory activity. The discussion is part and parcel of an extensive study of cultural and educational activity among Slovene workers in the 1920s.
