Summary/Abstract: The adventure of man on earth, which dates back to a few million years, maintained its course till the beginning of agriculture about ten thousand years ago; however, the earth has witnessed rather dramatic developments thereafter witnessed Rapid developments that took place after a long quiescent period increased particularly following the industrial revolution, and people faced various life styles that they had never experienced before; and finally the Information Age, in which people make their wealth out of knowledge was started about 50 years ago as the third wave. In parallel with these developments effective enhancement in the impact of the internet in parallel with these developments has moved it beyond. The internet is argued to be a field of culture, identity, politics and economics. Bauman focuses on the studies addressing the impacts of rapid developments in the fields of communication and computer technology on human life. Bauman, approaching freedom as a social relationship states that people restrain their freedoms by themselves by using social media, purpose of creation is meant for communication, as a mirror where they can only see themselves thus restrain their freedoms by themselves. In this context, content analysis related to social media and freedom issues was made in Bauman texts.
