Summary/Abstract: An Illusion of “I”. Toward a relational perspective of the agent. The paper presents a particular relational vision of the agent. This vision breaks with ‘substantialist’ approaches that depict the individual (social actor) as an isolated, tangible being. The author, following Pierre Bourdieu, Bernard Lahire and Jean-Claude Kaufmann, draws a perspective of the internally differential agent which consists of seemingly contradictory schemas, dispositions and habits. Finally, the possibilities of reconciliation between this concept and a widen (hierarchical) structural context (social class and symbolic violence) are taken into consideration.
