YOUTH’S ATTITUDE TO THE ALCOHOL – EMPIRICAL RESEARCH CARRIED OUT AMONG THE STUDENTS OF BERLIN AND WARSAW SCHOOLS

Summary/Abstract: Alcohol is a socially legalized drug in Germany and Poland. Even pupils regard alcohol as a sociability-promoting natural stimulant. The question, if and to what extend the consumer drinks, differs in both countries, which factors affect above all the consumption of alcohol and which symptoms young people identify as alcohol problems, are located in the center of the article. Alcohol problems, which lead to addiction and abuse, are attributed to psychological, physical and social symptoms, are brought up for discussion at prevention programs. The results of the German-Polish investigation have revealed that young people of both countries give little attention to the alcohol abuse, though the topic of the abuse (resulting from excessive drinking) is currently discussed in the German and Polish societies and is considered to have serious consequences for the society which has to result in prevention work.
