Summary/Abstract: In the paper, the author deals with the institutional development of the Slovenian banking (regulative savings banks, credit cooperatives and joint-stock banking companies) before the First World War, in the order of their emergence. This is accompanied by an analysis of their operation and a research into the correlation between the general economic development and that of the financial institutions in Slovenia before the First World War.
