Summary/Abstract: The history of the Slavs and especially of Poland covers relatively much space in Soviet textbooks, there is emphasis on social history and on functional relationship with the history of Russia/USSR. Polish-Russian relations are shown, in accordance with the ideological demands of the time, as having been harmonious, facts unpleasant to either of the two are played down or not mentioned at all , simplifications and onesidedness are frequent; here and there Great Russian-nationalist tendencies come to the fore.
