State of research and the condition of the Polish military historiography concerning the history of Polish military units and the Polish Army from the years 1914–1939

Summary/Abstract: The condition of the Polish historiography concerning the history of Polish military units and the Polish Army from the years 1914–1939 does not seem good. Apart from a number of deficiencies, one can also point to certain examples of pathology among the scholars dealing with that field of research. Due to all that, despite enormous and constant improvement in the size of the body of literature, the increase in knowledge on thosetopics is still relatively slow and marked with gaps and imperfections. For that reason, the Author of this study has made an attempt to present the state of research on the history of Polish military units and the Polish Army from the years 1914–1939. In addition, he has formulated a number of research postulates, the realization of which could significantly boost our present knowledge. Kondycja rodzimej historiografii wojskowej dotyczącej dziejów polskich formacji wojskowych oraz Wojska Polskiego z lat 1914–1939 nie jest najlepsza. Poza różnego rodzaju jej brakami i niedostatkami można też wskazać bowiem na istnienie w środowisku badaczy zajmujących się tą problematyką pewnych swoistych patologii. Wszystko to powoduje, że pomimo ogromnego i stałego przyrostu literatury wzrost naszej wiedzyo tych zagadnieniach jest stosunkowo powolny i posiada liczne luki oraz niedoskonałości. W związku z tym w studium tym autor podjął się próby przedstawienia obecnego stanu badań polskiej historiografii na temat polskich formacji wojskowych oraz Wojska Polskiego z lat 1914–1939. Ponadto sformułował on cały szereg postulatów badawczych, których realizacja mogłaby posunąć naszą obecną wiedzę zdecydowanie naprzód.
