On Material Culture from an Ethnographic Point of View

Summary/Abstract: An attempt is made in this article to show the ethnic originality of material culture as the subject of ethnographic research. The author considers the objective and subjective factors which condition the basic law-governed processes and specific features in the development of the phenomena of folk material culture. The author indicates as the most essential guides to the specifics of material culture the influence of natural and historical conditions, but does not neglect the social factor.
