Summary/Abstract: Hélène Rioux, in her novel cycle “Fragments of the World”, puts to perfection the technique of mise en abyme, in order to show that the lives and daily life of her characters are linked together and form a coherent whole, as is very often the case life in the age of globalization and the concept of six degrees of kinship or four handshakes that separate every inhabitant of the globe from the President of the Republic. “Fragments of the World” constitute a kind of mirror in which contemporary society is reflected, but it is a fractalized whole, composed of joys, sorrows, memories and human hopes. Our goal is to present the poetic, fractalized and diversified world view offered by the novel cycle that has not yet ended, but which already offers several lines of analysis and encourages to reflect on the vision of the world and contemporary society.
