Summary/Abstract: The need to define small and medium-sized enterprises is particularly important both for defining the parameters of small businesses and for implementing effective measures and programs to support the development of small enterprises. The paper defines the quantitative and qualitative indicators for the identification of small and medium-sized enterprises. It analyses the small business in Bulgaria and the Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries sector, outlining the trends for its development and the directions for its strengthening.
