Summary/Abstract: The aim of this study was to research the effect of deconstruction and reception aesthetics on the artist and the artwork. In addition, it also aims to reveal the contributing causes that have pushed artists to deconstruction in the transition to modernism. Mannerisms are an important indication of transition to modernism as a genre. With this process, significant changes were observed in the artists’ manner of viewing. The concepts of deconstruction and reception aesthetics are expressions resulting from the artist’s inquiry regarding the structure. The comprehension of these concepts in modern art depend on how modernism and preceding eras are approached. The reason why artists such as El Greco, Jean Metzinger, Chuck Close and Carlo Maria Mariani are featured derives from the fact that they exemplify different eras and are artists who are related to the subject. Therefore, it is anticipated that the artist and work analyses can shed a light on the research topic’s past and contemporary process.
