Summary/Abstract: This study deals with how Banksy’s art began and evolved. While analyzing political, cultural, and social problems, Banksy’s works in which he depicts objects of everyday life and iconic social figures are also included. The messages he wanted to give over his works were tried to be read and the contribution of these messages to art were examined. It is evident that the artist has influenced a broad heterogeneous community and the easy readability of the message, which he wishes to give in this fame, also contributes. In this article, which examines Banksy’s works in the light of the factors that direct his understanding of art, the auction in London may have paved the way for re-questioning with the ‘Girl with the Balloon’. In this artistic uprising against the authority, the view of the museums and the relationship between the museum and art were also mentioned. The method of the study is a literature review. André Gide states that art is born out of oppression. Art is also trying to create beauty. However, it is an abstract concept which can be organized well as politically. In this context, the artist is an authority. From the past to the present day artists are known to produce close to or against authority. Artists have worked as pro-church or as opposed, which were authority, formed the memory of human history with their works. Today, it is questioned that capitalism has created the image of non-social society.
