Researching the integration process in the district administrations of the North central region of the republic of Bulgaria

Summary/Abstract: The public sector organizations are facing challenges, which need to be overcome. Globalization, the deepening feeling of lack of justice, the changes carried out, the innovations introduced, the necessity for adding value to activities, products and people and the raising of confidence in institutions are only part of the problems, which the public sector is facing. Solving these problems may become easier through joining the efforts of different subjects, which may have contribution to this process. This paper focuses on the process of integration as one of the possibilities through which the district administrations of the republic of Bulgaria could add value to their institutional capacities. The nature of integration is discussed, as well as the different integrational processes. The results of a research carried out are presented, regarding the levels of integration in the district administrations of the north-central region. The conclusion reached is that the efforts of these administrative structures must continue in the direction of the extending and enhancing the process of integration. Possibilities for new integrational mergers are recommended.
