Summary/Abstract: The article reflects on the common problems addressed by two disciplines that arose from pedagogy, i.e. andragogy and pedeutology, and the possibility of applying research results ensuing from this relationship, not only in educational institutions but, above all, in non-formal and informal learning that particularly addresses teachers’ professional development. The need to exchange and mutually create knowledge in joint scientific ventures undertaken by andragogues and pedeutologists could contribute to a gradual interruption of the “vicious circle” of instrumental rationality in education and disperse the secondary habitus of students and their teachers first learned from “school” experiences and reinforced in educational institutions, including in higher education institutions.
