Summary/Abstract: The paradigm changes such as population growth, rising of the society’s welfare, industrialization, urbanization, and increasing human knowledge have made community demand more health services. Therefore, besides the capacity of health services improved, the quantity and the type of waste in hospitals have importantly increased in parallel. Hospitals, while treating and upgrading quality of the individuals’ lives, medical waste, which is an output element and in case of failure to manage in accordance with standards creates the risk of adverse impact on the environment and public health. Objectives in waste management issues are to realize the maintenance of ecological and economic balance in a sustainable environment, and to improve the community benefit with policies and legislation.
