Summary/Abstract: The main thesis puts by the author is an indication of education for peace as one of the functions of a modern state. The author analysed selected papal texts with reference to the issues of education for peace, both in terms of the definition of the concept and its scope in the context of the state functions. An important element of the work is pointing to entities responsible for education for peace, e.g. parents, teachers and politicians. The work presents new possibilities of reading and analyzing the texts of Pope John Paul II in the contemporary scientific discourse.
