Transformation of Public Property into Private Property – Focal Problem of Slovenian Economic Transition

Summary/Abstract: In the following article the author addresses the privatisation process in Slovenia, which turned out to be the key problem of Slovenian economic transition after the attainment of independence. The realisation of privatisation was - and still is - the subject of numerous debates. The author focuses particularly on the process of the privatisation of companies. Major difficulties in this area appeared already with the adoption of relevant legislation, giving rise to numerous frauds and contributing to the so-called "wild privatisation". This discussion includes actual information about the public property damage and the course of privatisation process.
