Summary/Abstract: A century after the Great Union, the national day of Romania entails reflections from various angles, given that this day – contested ab initio by some – has fuelled apprehensions continuously, as if one could find in the entire history of this nation a more remembrance-worthy moment than the one when Romanians saw their state unity dream come true. Beyond the symbolical value of the moment, there is the reality per se, from a historical and ethnocultural perspective, a reality worthy of exploring in any case, a multiple, fecund, inex-haustible reality. Therefore, from December 1st, 1918 to this point, it has produced an entire array of restitutions – either fragmentary or global – that have included various disagreements, given that some signatory states at the Treaty of Versailles have subsequently maintained a disagreement-filled relation.
