Summary/Abstract: In the History of Islamic Logic, thirteenth century is a period in which important scholars lived and produced original texts in the field. One of the scholars of this period whose works on logic were taught in the madrasahs for centuries was Najm al-Dîn al-Kâtibî (d. 1277). Kâtibî wrote original works such as Al-Shamsiyya as well as commentaries on some texts of logic. One of the most important of such commentaries was Sharh kashf al-asrâr ‘an gavâmiz al-afkâr. This is a commentary on Kashf al-asrâr of Afdaluddin al-Hunaji (d. 1248) who lived in the same period and followed Ibn Sina- Râzî line of classical logic. This is a voluminous and most popular work of Hunaji on logic. But he did not include some important topics of logic, such as selective syllogism in this work. Kâtibî includes these topic in his commentary. This study examines his view on selective syllogism within the limit of his views in the commentary.
