Summary/Abstract: The objective of the paper is to define the trends regarding incidence and mortality by colorectal cancer in the Bjelovar-Bilogora County in the period 2000-2010, and to determine the quality of life of the patients in the post-operative period, in particular those with stoma bag. The data on incidence have been gathered from the Croatian National Cancer Registry, and the data on mortality from the database of the Croatian National Institute of Public Health. In order to describe the changes in trends depending on the sex, crude rate has been used. The results of the research conducted by applying analysis using linking points have shown the following trends of the increase in colorectal cancer in men: incidence EAPC 2.9 %; mortality EAPC 2.1 % (Croatia on the whole). In the Bjelovar-Bilogora County, the trend regarding the increase in incidence and mortality remained constant in the last couple of years, so that in 2012, the Bjelovar-Bilogora County was at the first place in Croatia in this context. In women, the increase in incidence has not been significant. However, the average annual percentage of the changes regarding mortality experienced in the last ten years a significant increase of 1.1 %. According to rough data, in the Bjelovar-Bilogora County in the period 2000–2010, the total number of operated patients with permanent stoma bag was 480. It may be concluded that the trends regarding incidence and mortality by colorectal cancer in Croatia are still in growth, which is particularly expressed in the Bjelovar-Bilogora County. The trends regarding the increase in mortality indicate to the need for efficient prevention and treatment.
