POLITICAL POWER STRUGGLES IN THE PROVINCIAL ORGANIZATION OF THE RPP DURING THE SINGLE PARTY PERIOD: THE CASE OF KADIZÂDE FAMILY IN MARAS

Summary/Abstract: In central-province relations conducted in accordance with single-party ideology in the single-party period, provincial party centers were the most important points of local powers in reaching the center. In this regard, rural gentry became the political constructors the provincial system as the representatives of the masses. The leading figures of the region became the representative of politics in the provinces. These local forces, who used party organizations as a political wing that integrates their socio-economic forces, struggled to guarantee their existed political and social power. In the face of the obligatory silence of the masses, the struggle between the rival local forces turned into a means of obtaining political rant. As in many provincial cities, party politics, which were conducted by large and wealthy families, often led to deep conflicts and disagreements in Maras. In this process, the Kadızâde family, which was the main constructor of local politics in Maras, was hardly criticized by their rivals and was overthrown by the party center. This study deals with the struggle to seize party administration in a provincial city during the Single Party Period. This study also deals with the emergence of struggles in the provincial organization of RPP in Maras and their socio-cultural reasons. From this perspective, this study is based on the party inspector reports. The party inspector reports, presented the structural status and organization of the party organizations in the provincial provinces, at the same time presents a photograph of the socio-economic situation in the provincial cities and their internal struggles in the party organizations. This article based on the Kadızâde family case discusses the conflicts ocurred in the provincial organization of the RPP and their reasons as well as the nature of the network of the party center and party organizations under single party administration, and the main factors that conduct and mature politics in the provinces in the singleparty period. Thus, İt can be said that the main purpose of this study is to determinate the party struggles occured in order to take part in the single and most powerful political mechanism of the single party administration.
